WELCOME TO YEAR 5
Hello everyone and welcome to our Year 5 page.
The year 5 team - Mrs Proctor, Mrs Brown and Mrs Kirtlan can't wait to get going with the new academic year. It's going to be an interesting one!
On our page you will find lots of information about upcoming events and we will share what we have been learning too.
Should you need to carry out any learning from home, this is where you'll find everything you will need.
As parents are not allowed to escort children around to the classroom at the moment, nor collect them from the classroom door after school, please contact me via Class Dojo, write a note in your child's planner or contact the school office if you need to talk to me for any reason.
THE YEAR 5 TEAM
Mrs Proctor
Hello. I'm the Year 5 class teacher, Assistant Headteacher, Maths subject leader and SENDCo. I have been teaching for a very long time now and love my job. I work really hard to make sure that we have fun with our learning and have lots of opportunities to do different things outside of the classroom too. I help everyone achieve their potential whilst having lots of fun too, I hope!
I am married and have 2 lovely young men called Jordan and James. I love spending time with my family and we all enjoy walking and camping, even in the pouring rain! We enjoy looking after rescue animals and have 2 cats, Ty and Milo and 4 guinea pigs who are super cute. To help me relax, I like to bake (anything involving chocolate) and I enjoy reading historical novels and children's books. I also love to visit different places across the country and particularly love Dorset and Cornwall.
Mrs Brown
Teaching Assistant / Rascals Childcare Manager
Hello, I am Mrs Brown and I support Mrs Proctor in year 5. Some of you may recognise me from the infant building where I work as Rascals childcare manager. I love both of my roles at Rosedale Primary School and have worked here for almost 4 years. I love it!
At home I spend lots of time with my husband and two children, Connor and Aimee, enjoying cosy nights in and at the weekends we love to spend time exploring different places.
Just like Mrs Proctor and Mrs Kirtlan, I LOVE chocolate but I really enjoy cooking meals and love to eat at a variety of restaurants. My favourite foods are Italian and I hope to visit Italy one day...mainly for their pizza!
Mrs Kirtlan
Teaching assistant (1:1)
Hello, I'm Mrs Kirtlan and I work in Year 5 in the mornings. This photo is of me and my children when we were on holiday. We walked to the shop every morning to buy delicious fresh bread. Can you see the shop in the background?
I live with Mr Kirtlan, James, Thomas and our two cats, Kit and Kat. I enjoy going for walks in the woods or on the moors, and taking photos. My favourite colour is purple and I love chocolate!

Whilst school is closed due to Coronavirus, this is where I will be posting suggestions for learning to be done at home.
I will update this page weekly and try to share as many of your ideas and pieces of learning as you share with me to keep us all going.
I'm going to put a suggested timetable of activities and learning opportunities on here but obviously you may not be able to do everything every day or you might be really interested in one particular thing and want to do a bit more of that instead.
The timetable will have links to different websites and I'll attach powerpoints that might help you to understand some of the things we haven't covered in class, if you need it.
I would love to hear from you too so don't forget to use Class Dojo to send your photos and any messages or questions.
Please, please, please READ EVERY DAY.
Please, please, please PRACTICE YOUR TIMES TABLES - Don't forget to use the sheets from your pack (time yourself 3 minutes) and go online onto TTRockstars as often as you can.
Please, please, please PRACTICE YOUR SPELLINGS. I'll assign a 2 Do on Purple Mash each week and put the powerpoint for that on here too. I'll attach a suggested list of spellings and maybe you can do a test at the end of the week?
