We focus on learning with reading at the heart of everything we do

Year 2

The year 2 team - Mrs Fell and Mrs Martin – love to have lots of fun learning with our class!  We are here to support every child on their own special journey to achieve their very best.

On our page you will find information about what we have been learning and should you need to carry out any learning from home, this is where you'll find everything you will need.

As parents are not allowed inside our classroom at the moment, please send me a message via Class Dojo or contact the school office to leave a message if you need to talk to me for any reason.

Mrs Fell

Year 2 class teacher, KS1 lead, History and Geography subject lead

Mrs Martin

Higher-level Teaching Assistant, Pastoral Team Member

We have 3 key questions to explore this term:

HISTORY - Who lived in a castle?

GEOGRAPHY - Where can I find a castle?

SCIENCE – Why is it made out of that?

This term, our school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm.

Once you have your reading book, make sure you bring it and your planner to

school every day.  Remember to read at home every day!

Bring your PE kit on a Monday and leave it at school.

Don't forget your water bottle so you can keep hydrated.

Have a go on Times Tables Rockstars as often as you can.

Home Learning

Hello Year 2!

While school is closed, please use your Times Tables Rockstars log-in (this is glued to the inside cover of your planner) to practise your times tables and check the Purple Mash website (log-in also glued in your planner) to access other fun learning tasks.

Phonics games and flashcards are also available at a fantastic website called Phonics Play, which is currently providing free access to parents:

I'll be providing a weekly planner of suggested activities to use if this is helpful, but remember that learning doesn't have to start or stop there.  Please also make use of the learning packs sent home and remember to keep reading every day and keep practising your writing - I would love to see and share with the class any work you have done.

Thankyou and keep smiling!   Mrs Fell

Over the Easter holidays we will not be providing the usual weekly activities, but do feel free to continue to carry on with TT Rockstars, Purple Mash and any of the other learning activities we have sent you if it helps keep some structure to your days over the holidays. As always, keep reading every day! Here are some alternative fun activities you could have a go at! Have a lovely Easter break! :-)
