World Book Day
We enjoyed celebrating World Book Day across school. Children came dressed as a character from a favourite story and then the day was spent focusing on a piece of creative writing based around a book or about a character we created when author Malcolm J Hogan visited us.
KS2 Traditional Christmas Event
We had a lovely festive evening for our KS2 Traditional Christmas event. The children sang a range of Christmas carols including Good King Wenceslas, We Three Kings and Silent Night as well as some popular favourites such as Jingle Bells and Rudolph.
These were interspersed with a poetry extract and nativity story reading. All accompanied by hot chocolate and mince pies.
Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Fayre. We raised money for school, for Guide Dogs and for the Flood Appeal. It was a great event, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. See below for some photos.
We had a great time at our Spooky Stories family reading event. Lots of children and their parents came along and enjoyed hot chocolate and biscuits whilst sharing stories with a 'spooky' theme. We also had some colouring activities and wordsearches and had some Halloween themed music playing. Everyone had a great time.
We had a great assembly by an organisation called Mad Science. We were shown lots of exciting science demonstrations. The photos below show some of the things we saw in assembly.
Rosedale's Got Talent
July 2019 saw our first ever Rosedale's Got Talent event. This was organised entirely by our School Council. They auditioned over 50 children from across school and selected two acts from each class to perform in the final. Members of the Talent Show Committee mentored the acts and the final was absolutely amazing with so much talent. It was so hard to choose winners but in the end the judges selected the winners as:
Key Stage 1: Lucy and Evie
Key Stage 2: Martha
See below for some photos of the event.
Doncaster Music Service Brass Ensemble
A brass ensemble from Doncaster Music Service visited us and performed a concert to the whole school. They taught us about the brass family of instruments - trombone, trumpet, French Horn and tuba - and played a range of pieces of music.
No Pens Day by Amber Y6 and Martha Y4
On No Pens Day, we did no writing and most of us played hot potato.
Most of the classes played maths games . KS2 made lots of different things like Y3 made boxes out of cards, Y4 did sign language . We had an assembly about No Pens Day . Y5 did oracy games and Y6 played bingo and lots of different games. We enjoyed No Pens Day but people did miss their pens.
Recently school has had a visit from Fab Lab
These people make science fun.
This is what year 6 did.
So, minutes before dinner ended we went down to Ollie who was in the infant hall and was waiting for us. So once we were there he asked us about what jobs used science. After that, he asked us do we want to make slime and we all said YES! We used PVA glue and something else. After a lot of fun we all went back to the class and did some more science.
Harvest Festival October 21
The children enjoyed their assembly from Father Da'Silva for Harvest Festival. We donated lots of food for our local elderly residents.
