A squad of 16 gymnasts from Rosedale Primary School from Y2 to Y6 competed in the Doncaster gymnastics finals today against 21 schools across Doncaster at Dearne Valley Leisure Centre. The children have been practising since September in the hope of making the school team for these finals and have worked extremely hard all year in perfecting their performances on the floor and on the vault.
All the children performed to the best of their ability with most of the children representing the school at gymnastics for the first time. It was a great achievement to find out that overall the school's best result ever was achieved today in a gymnastics final when one of our teams finished in 3rd place with an incredible score of 75.6 Marks out of 80.
After the event the judges and event organisers could not believe the standard achieved by the children, it was extremely high and special praise has to go to team captains Sophie & Natalie who led by example and helped support the younger Y2 and Y3 pupils. Some superb performances were produced by all the team with so many pupils worthy of a mention.
We would also like to say a big thank you to all the parents and family members who came to watch today. Your support means a lot to the school and your children and without it we wouldn’t be able to achieve the standards reached today.
A special mention has to go to Mrs Carol Platts who helps prepare and coach the children from our school to be the highest performing schools across Doncaster year after year. Pupils have a real passion for gymnastics which Mrs Platts deserve credit for.
