Foundation 2

We are currently in Summer term. There are more learning challenges for this week.




 Children should be looking at Phase 3 and 4 sounds. We would be learning Phase 4 sounds over Summer Term whilst still securing knowledge on Phase 3 sounds.


Phonics is vital to ensure that your child has a successful start to a life of reading. When a child feels confident enough to read they begin to read for pleasure. Reading supports them in so many different ways and at Rosedale each child should be a great reader. 


As the learning at home continues I have made sure the learning challenges (found below) are still topic related in order to keep the children interested and make the learning purposeful.


I understand that some parents are finding it difficult with home learning therefore I have created a suggested daily timetable to help keep you and your children in a routine, which is similar to the one they would have at school. Please feel free to use this as much or as little as you wish.

My Maths!


Your child has been registered on the MyMaths website until September 2020. We hope that this will help them with their maths work whilst we are all working from home.  You will also be able to see how they are getting on.   

The following information will help you support your child in accessing and using MyMaths 

How to access MyMaths. 

Go to MyMaths - Bringing maths alive - Home  and login at the top of the page with the school's username and password.  


Password: angle


On the next page your child should enter their personal username and password in the My Portal box. MyMaths will then remember who they are and automatically log them in to the tasks. 

You will receive a copy of your childs password by contacting school or your class teacher on dojo.

I love seeing the work you are all doing at home! Keep sending pictures!

Welcome to Foundation 2!


Our teacher in FS2 is Miss Robertson.

Our support staff are Mrs Theaker,Mrs Kirtlan and Mrs Moore.

The classroom door opens at 8:45 and is closed at 9am. 

Your child must bring their reading book and planner to school everyday.

PE kits must be brought to school on Monday and left on your child's peg until Friday.



In a morning we have a structure in FS2. We start our day with Rhyme Time where we sing a selection of nursery rhymes and songs. After this we have a 30 minute phonics session where the children learn Phase 2,3 and 4 sounds. We then develop this by having a literacy and a maths lesson. The children access enhanced and continuous provision all day working alongside lessons.


In an afternoon we have daily Plan, Learn, Review sessions.


Early Reading: 

At Rosedale we work hard to ensure each child has the opportunity to be a successful, confident and happy reader. In order to do this the children in reception read to an adult at least 3 times a week. Some children read to an adult everyday in order to develop their confidence.




Parental Involvement:


  • Stay and Learn

Every morning enhanced provision is put out for your child. You are invited to stay each morning between 8:45 and 9am to help them access the provision.


  • Topic Leaflets

As a way of keeping parents up-to-date on our developing curriculum there are topic leaflets available. These tell you all about the fantastic learning we will be doing over that half term.


  • Feedback

We welcome and value parental feedback. We have 'Wow Moments' and 'Proud Cloud' boards in our classroom for parents and carers to contribute to.
