Foundation 2

Welcome to Foundation 2!

Our teacher in FS2 is Miss Robertson and our HTLA is Mrs Theaker.

We are going to be learning about lots of fun and exciting things this Term!
Our topic for Summer is Minibeasts!

What to bring to class every day:

  • A water bottle
  • Reading book and diary
  • A book bag

*Please provide a spare change of clothes for your child if you feel this is necessary.

Literacy and Phonics:
In F2 we love to learn to read and write!

We learn letter sounds in our daily phonics sessions.
We are learning to form letters correctly during our handwriting sessions.

. We are learning to read words and simple sentences by sight and to know how to find information from books, ipads and computers.

In F2 we are learning to count, recognise, write and order numbers to 20. We are developing our understanding of addition, subtraction, doubling and halving. We also are using our knowledge of time and money to access learning challenges in our classroom.

Communication and Language:

To develop our speaking and listenning skills we have a 'Show and Tell' afternoon on Fridays. This makes it possible for children to bring something important to them to school and develop skills and friendships through speaking. We encourage children to bring in items such as certificates, photographs or awards as opposed to toys.

Our P.E days are Tuesday and Friday. Your child can come into school in their P.E kit on these mornings. Please bring their school clothes in a seperate bag and to avoid losing anything please make sure your child's name is in all clothing.

Parental Involvement:

  • Stay and Learn

On Wednesday mornings 9am-9:30am we have 'Stay and Learn' sessions for family members to stay and get involved in their childs learning.

  • Knowledge Organisers

As a way of keeping parents up-to-date on our developing curriculum we have created a Knowledge Organiser for our topic. This addresses what we will be teaching the children over the term/half term. A copy of this will be sent home at the beginning of each topic.

  • Mystery Readers

On  afternoons we welcome a 'mystery reader' into the classroom to bookshare with the class. The mystery reader can be parents, grandparents, carers or other teachers from around our school. If you would like to volunteer to join us on an afternoon please let Miss Robertson know.

  • Feedback

We welcome and value parental feedback. We have 'Wow Moments' and 'Proud Cloud' boards in our classroom for parents and carers to contribute to.
